Training Course Brief
This comprehensive 9 week training course provides in-depthskills and knowledge development across all areas of Results Based Monitoring & Evaluation (RB M&E) and draws on the wide range of experience of the facilitators. The course modules reflect the key tasks required by M&E practitioners as well as the knowledge, behaviors and skill competencies necessary to carry out Results Based Monitoring and Evaluation activities within an organization/Program successfully.
What this course enables you to do
- By the end of the online training, you will be able to demonstrate each one of the competencies;
- Design and maintain good data & provide quality data management processes in your organization
- Ensure that your project is compliant with reporting requirements
- Be able to provide leadership and train other staff in your organization/department/your program all data processes
- Design and implement a credible, results oriented M & E system for your organization/Programs
- Be able to Revisit your M&E System from a Contribution Assessment Perspective
- Gain a sound understanding on the theory of change
- Understand the difference between contribution Vs. Attribution and their implication in Project Planning
- Be able to design a project from the perspective of the theory of change
Course Outline
- Week 1: Fundamentals of Monitoring and Evaluation
- Week 2:Results Based M&E approach - differences between traditional M&E and Results based M&E
- Week 3:Results Based M&E approach - differences between traditional M&E and Results based M&E
- Week 4:· Conducting Situation Analysis---- Introduction to Coordinated Needs Assessment - The Assessment Cycle
- Week 5: M & E Frameworks: basic processes for M&E frameworks, frameworks and organization planning and performance management.
- Week 6: Overview of Theory of Change and Contribution Assessment
- Week 7: Developing a Theory of Change for your Project/Program
- Week 8: Contribution Assessment Framework and Participatory Methodologies
- Week 9: Design a Project from a theory of change perspective
Assignments
All modules shall be examined at the end of the week in which they are taken. The assessment
of the online participant’s work shall be on the basis of percentage (%) marks. The pass mark in all unit courses shall be 40% of the total marks.
The assignments consist of written answers to questions attached at the end of each module and the pass mark for each module is 40% of the total score.
Projects
- This course requires participants to design a project from a theory of change perspective. (The participant works very closely with the trainer to ensure sound appreciation of the theory of change)
Grading
The total score for each module is out of 100.
A participant’s mark is then translated into grades as follows: (Distinction) 75 and above, (Upper Credit) 60 - 74, (Lower Credit) 50 - 59, (Pass) 40 – 49,(Fail)-39 and below
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, the participants will be awarded with a certificate. The certificate is sent to the address provided by the participant/sponsoring organization within 3 days after receipt of the final assessment report from the trainer.
If your organization enrolls staff in groups, you will receive your certificate immediately upon completion of your course regardless of the position of the rest of staff
Sponsor Updates
Since an overwhelming majority of the participants enrolling in AAI online courses are sponsored by their organizations/institutions, we thus keep them updated on a participant’s progress.
This new policy has not only contributed to earlier course completion rates but also raised the average participants’ grades while at the same time helping ensure value for money to organizations.
Fees and Payment
The fee for this course is USD 850
Payment can be done in up to 3 equal installments
Organizations registering staff in groups get negotiated payment terms.
About the Lead Trainer: Dr. Eunice Njambi, PhD-Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist
Dr. Eunice Njambi has PhD and a Master’s degree in community health and development from Great Lakes University, with further training in health systems management from Galilee International Management Institute, Israel. She is community development specialist, with expertise in research consultancy. Eunice is a regional facilitator in Results Based Approaches, development of partnerships, strategic leadership planning and development, systems strengthening through policy research and stakeholder engagement and peace and security operations. Currently working with IPSTC as a researcher and curriculum designer Eunice has published 2 occasional papers and 3 Issue briefs on in peace and security. She has been a principle investigator in national and regional research with USAID, KIPPRA, Concern World Wide South Sudan, AMREF/ Ministry of health, UNCHR/UNICEF/Action Against Hunger, DONONE Baby Nutrition. To date she has supervised Master’s degree research for over 50 Students who have graduated
